July 2001: CorelPHOTOPAINT 7 Started on green/teal paper; Basic shapes blocked in with air brush tool, pastel tool, plain paint brush, and eraser. Shading added She is going to have a skirt and sleeves but they will be sheer so the legs and arms will show. Running image through gaussian blur often |

Added detail to hair and cushions. More shading Realized that the face has been done too soon and probably will have to go. |

Worked on texture for wall Tried many different ones, (that's why she has a hole through her finger) paint can set to 70% transparent decided to use "mineral cloudy 5 colors" Screwed up left cushion really bad, Redid it and finished it with flood fill "Soft water" set on 50%transparent in the highlight areas and 70% in the shadow areas. Filled sections of right cushion with "pizzaz mineral2" and "pizzaz mineral" set on 50%, 70% and 80% transparent. Began sheer skirt and sleeves. Used mask tool and selected sleeve area and then painted it with a VERY LARGE brush, with white, on 65% transparent. |

Ok, I hated the sleeves and had to paint them out. I can't start over on copy 2 because it's just a thumbnail. Now I'm not so sure about the dress color. I want her to look classier than she will in red. Switched the dress and cushion colors because I like the combination I'll add textures and patterns next time. Selected dress and ran it through gaussian blur and shaded and ran it again. Started to put pattern on cushion, brightly in the highlight areas and more transparent in the shadow areas. Added very bright yellow on a few spots. |

Worked on the skirt a little but realized that I won't be happy with it unless I work from a model and get the drapery right. I'm putting my daughter in a shiny skirt tonight and doing some studies. Decided to work on the cushions for the rest of the time today. Flood filled the right one with "pizzaz mineral" again. Drew designs on the right cushion, tipping the paint brush to 20 deg. to conform to the angle of the cushion. Filled the red areas with "islands in the stream at 70% ![]() (sorry the other swatches are so small, folks.) I couldn't do any of the front of her shawl because the dress isn't ready but I began doing the back of her shawl, using the mask to select areas and paint with a pale blue set to 80% transparent. |

Worked on the shawl and hair and then lost the large version of the small one you see here. Copied the hair off the small one, enlarged and pasted it into the working version and ran it through gaussian blur a few times. Took a sledgehammer to the computer (in my dreams) |

Finished the dress according to my studies from a model. Added gold beads and pearls to the neckline using a round paintbrush with dark paint at 15 pixels, lighter paint at 10 pixels and finally, bright yellow paint at 5 pixels, to create a round appearance. ![]() (actual (computer) size - actual printed size is about half this) Added the shawl in front of her arms the same way I did the part in back. Adjusted the flesh tone because it was printing out too pink. See ya next time :-) |

Just worked on the hair today, putting a texture fill at 50% transparent to add some brown touches (very subtle) shading it with light blue and then running it through gaussian blur. ![]() ![]() here's the shawl up close. (actual (computer) size - actual printed size is about half this) |

worked on adding highlights to the hair. Added light blue with a tiny brush, blurred - did this a few times and the last blur was very slight. Then began to work on the jewelry. This is the part I've been looking forward to. It's a lot of work to get to the point where the fun details can be done. I have plans to put tons of jewels on her. Lapis and saphires on her tiara, rings, a necklace, earrings. WOO HOO! See ya next time. ![]() ![]() (actual (computer) size - actual printed size is about half this) I think there will be sconces on the wall behind her or maybe a tapestry or something. I'm open to ideas, Folks. |
I haven't been working on this lately because everyday life is imposing on me. I'm not sure if anyone is following it anyway. | |
